Explore Outdoor Living at Ludeman Center

Parents and Friends of Ludeman Center is proud to participate in this initiative. Explore Outdoor Living at Ludeman’s is a cross agency commitment to promoting equitable nature access for youth in Saint Paul through programming, partnerships and policy.

How do you make an outdoor living?

The 383-bed residential facility for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is located on 60 acres in Park Forest. The center houses 40 ranch-style homes and a Neighborhood House, which includes offices for the Unit Director, Social Worker, Unit Physician, Nursing Personnel, Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals (QIDP’s), Residential Services Supervisors and clerical staff.

A wide range of vocational training programs are offered at the center, including a food service program, housekeeping program and horticulture program (vegetable garden and greenhouse flowers). Individuals also participate in community day training activities and the Center-wide recycling program.

For 29 years, Mark and Jennifer Ludeman have been operating Ludeman’s, a family-owned business that offers just about everything you need for your home and yard. The company started as a lawn care business and swept chimneys, then added wood stoves to the mix before expanding to patio furniture and barbecues, as well as seeds, chicks, fertilizer and all kinds of tools. The store even stocks hammocks and a full line of patio umbrellas.
